Cranberry Cheese Cake

Star Q

I am one of those weekend bakers who most of the time like to try something new; once in a while.  I have always watched my kids snacking on dried cranberries but have personally never developed the urge or interest to sample a few.

Sukun Goreng Pedas / Spicy Breadfruit

Star Q

The recipe I am sharing today is quite a simple one.  I am not really a fan of breadfruit but recently I bought it just because a friend had a craving for it.  Like Haylie Duff used to say in one of her cooking shows, 'Never question the cravings of a pregnant woman!' or thereabouts.

Cherry and Strawberry Mini Cheesecake

Star Q

We are into the third week of Ramadhan or the fifteenth day, to be exact.  I should give myself a pat on the back for refraining from making any entries about the dishes I have been preparing for the past fourteen days of Ramadhan.

Guacamole Pun Boleh

Star Q

Well, I knew it was too good to be true.  I didn't expect the vegetarian meal endeavour would actually last one week.  In fact I was quite surprised the quest to go vegetarian actually last a whole four days, which to me seems like quite an achievement for someone who has never gone vegetarian before.

Kari Nangka dengan Ayam

Star Q

It is always time to reminisce when you spend time in the kitchen cooking dishes that your mother or grandmother used to cook; bringing back a sense of nostalgia if you will.  The dishes you prepare may never be the same as how they have prepared, but it's just a way for you to remember them.

Simple Cheese and Pineapple Puffs

Star Q

There are times when you really don't have the time to spend in the kitchen especially so early in the morning.  However, that one fine Sunday morning (no less) request came pouring in for me to make use of the puff pastry that has been catching cold in the freezer.

Lemon Yogurt Apple Cake

Star Q

It has been quite a while since I baked a cake and the day we went visiting my sister-in-law and her husband was a good opportunity for me to bake again.  All I knew at that time was I wanted to bake an apple cake.

Cheesy Banana Cake

Star Q

Once in a while, someone else in the house gets a sudden urge to become the Sunday baker in the house besides me.  It is always pleasant to be lending a helping, instead of taking the lead in a baking session.  This time around, it is the missus' turn to be bitten by the baking bug!

Sliced Peach Cake

Star Q

I was going to visit a few teachers whom I have been coaching for a whole year now, and I really needed to bring something for them.  They have been receptive of my presence and all the ideas and suggestions I have been giving them.  In fact, that was the main reason why I needed to bring something.

Cheesy Mango Floats

Star Q

This is a belated entry because all the mangoes on my two trees have all but gone.  We have made every thinkable recipe using our mangoes, whether ripe or not.  We are quite fortunate this time around because we had an abundance of fruits to share with our friends, neighbours and in-laws.

Cheesy Fried Bananas

Star Q

I have heard about it for quite some time now.  I have seen pictures of it, heard people talking about it (with rave reviews) and seen documentaries on television about it.  But I have never actually got to try this much talked about Cheesy Fried Bananas.

Peach and Cheddar Cheese Cake

Star Q

I always find excuses to try out new recipes, and the arrival of a guest to our home is one of those excuses.  Actually I had been helping my wife prepare all the dishes for lunch and the only thing left was dessert, so I guess it was my duty to prepare it.

Caramalised Bananas with Butterscotch Sauce

Star Q

As with every recipe which is created out of necessity, this banana recipe went through the same process.  We had a comb of ripe bananas hanging near the window sill for a few days and no one seemed to want to eat them.

Puding Roti Lapis Epal / Apple Layered Bread Pudding

Star Q

Okay.  It's the first week of March and two months have gone by so quickly.  January and February passed by so fast, that when I turn to see where the days have gone, it's already too late.  It brings the proverb 'time flies when you're having fun' into a new meaning.

Kek Salji Strawberri / Snowy Strawberry Cake

Star Q

It's the weekend and all my kids are home.  The two that are in university are back for their mid-semester holidays.  So, the kitchen has been a hive of activities with people moving in and out, taking plates, dishing food, chatting, laughing and what-have-you.  The kitchen almost never closes, especially since my second child likes to have her dinner very late at night.

Vanilla Melty Hershey

Star Q

My wife's niece called from Seremban this morning saying that she would be dropping by on her way to her mother-in-law's house in Labis.  It is natural for her to be a bit frantic when she is informed about someone's impending visit, especially with regards to what to serve to the guests.

Mini Cheesecake

Star Q
iii.  STPM 2013

There was supposed to be a meeting at school this morning at 8 together with a few of my colleagues.  I had already ordered breakfast for us, but it had to be cancelled because our head of panel could not make it back from Sarawak because her flight was delayed.  The meeting was later totally postponed to another date because she could not make it back in time at all.

Kek Mangga / Mango Cake

Star Q

The second of our mango trees is now bearing fruit; and lots of it.  I have been waiting eight years for it to bear fruits.  Some may say it is rather a long time to wait for a tree to bear fruits, but I guess it comes with not using any fertilizer for any of our fruit trees.  I guess it has something to do with being organic!

Guacamole Parmesan

Star Q

It's been raining almost every afternoon for the past few days.  And you know what comes with the cold that the rain brings?  Hunger pangs.  And I couldn't help myself but rummage through the pantry to look for something to eat.

Raspberry White Chocolate Brownies

Star Q

This is a belated entry.  It is really late considering the fact that I bought these raspberries when I went back for Eid (that was almost two months ago!)  I made these brownies as soon as I got back from my holidays, but did not find time to write about it.
