Mee Hoon Goreng Tomyam

Okaylah.  Hari-hari sarapan makanan frozen pun jemu jugak kan.

250 gm isi ayam, dihiris nipis
3 ulas bawang putih - kisar
3 ulas bawang merah - kisar
4 sudu besar minyak masak
1/2 sudu teh serbuk lada putih
2 sudu besar pes tomyam (juga ada gambar wanita!)
2 helai daun limau purut muda, dihiris halus
Garam gula untuk perasa

Panaskan minyak dalam kuali.  Tumis bawang putih dan bawang merah.  Bila wangi masukkan ayam.  Bila ayam dah separuh masak, masukkan pes tomyam.  Kacau sehingga ayam betul-betul masak.  Kalau kering, masukkan sedikit air.  Masukkan lobak merah, lada putih dan perasa.  Masukkan mee hoon dan gaul rata.  Sebelum angkat, gaulkan daun limau purut.

Nota :  Mee hoon ini tidak memerlukan banyak air sebab ia cepat kembang.😊

Avocado and Corn Salad

This is yet another avocado based salad I have prepared for my lunch today.  As usual Fridays at the office are long and dreary, so I really need something to perk me up and food is definitely one of those perks.

Korean Fried Chicken / Ayam Goreng Korea

Star Q

Ever since the influx of several cooking programmes on television highlighting Korean dishes,  I must admit that I am more than intrigued by the popularity generated through them.  Plus, the fact that my kids have had the chance to sample some Korean dishes, added to the excitement to know what the buzz was all about.

Lasagna Bianca

Star Q

Our son and his wife usually comes home every fortnight, but due to some unforeseen circumstances, both of them were unable to keep up with that schedule.  Thus, after what seems like months, they finally had the opportunity to come home after four weeks.

Chicken with Ras el Hanout

Star Q

Sometimes I laugh at myself for being a bit peculiar compared to other people.  But on a second thought being peculiar or different from other people is not a bad thing after all; especially when I am not doing anything bad!

Flash Fried Courgetti with Chicken

Star Q

This is not really a new recipe.  In fact, the craze for courgetti or zoodles have all but faded away.  But I have finally found the time to download all food related pictures from my camera to my laptop.  It should not take too much of my time to do that, but I really couldn't find the time to sit down and do it.

Gulai Lemak Petai Kikis

Star Q

I really have to thank a friend for reminding me of this very old and traditional recipe.  I have actually forgotten about this dish, one which my mum used to make with different types of fish be they fresh water fish or your normal everyday fish caught from the sea.

Mac and Cheese 2.0

Star Q

I purposely call this dish Mac and Cheese 2.0 because the macaroni had been used to prepare two different types of dishes.  The first dish was where the macaroni was fried ala Malaysiana.  My wife had actually boiled a lot more macaroni than she wanted to use, so she kept the rest in the fridge.

Curry Shepherd's Pie

Star Q

My daughter was feeling under the weather the other day.  She is quite picky with the food that we prepare at home and she is even more so when she is not feeling well.  She didn't really have to tell what she wanted to eat.  I just knew.

Rendang Ayam Daun Puding

Star Q

We have been making rendang for Hari Raya for as long as I can remember.  We had Rendang Tok, we had rendang Putih, we had Duck Rendang and most of all we had the Beef Rendang with dried red chillies.  However, we have never made rendang ayam with daun puding (chicken rendang with puding leaves)

Lontong Mudah

Star Q

Okay, for this entry I am not attaching the recipe because Lontong itself consists of different types of dishes to make it complete; or as linguists would say, the whole is made up of the sum of the parts, or something to that effect!  Hence, too many recipes to give in one entry!

Nasi Impit Goreng

Star Q

The other day my wife made some lontong for break fast especially for me because I have been wanting to have some home-made lontong for quite a long time.  She has always procrastinated making it because our children do not like lontong.  So, I always lose when it comes to what to prepare for meals.

Parmesan Crusted Fried Chicken

Star Q

Who can turn down a plate of delicious, crispy fried chicken?  I know I can't; same goes for my family.  Once in a while, fried chicken will be the only thing on the menu for that day; no rice, no sambal, no coconut based dishes; just fried chicken!

Ayam Masak Madu

Star Q

It's the fasting month of Ramadhan again.  Personally for me, Ramadhan is just like any other month of the year where food is concerned.  In fact, my menu tend to be much simpler and less calorie-laden unless there is a request from my family members.

Guacamole Pun Boleh

Star Q

Well, I knew it was too good to be true.  I didn't expect the vegetarian meal endeavour would actually last one week.  In fact I was quite surprised the quest to go vegetarian actually last a whole four days, which to me seems like quite an achievement for someone who has never gone vegetarian before.

Tofu Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms

Star Q
iii.  Lala Kimchi

On to the third day of this sudden desire to be a vegetarian, the search for sample recipes have reached a huge mind block because, for this endeavour I have promised myself that I will try to create my own recipes (no matter how unoriginal they may be!)

Sohoon Goreng

Star Q

The second day of the week-long vegetarian meal request continues with this simple dish which I have prepared countless number of times since it is a favourite with my kids.  Taking that into consideration, I decided to make a vegetarian version of it.

Lala Kimchi

Star Q

I have always wanted to prepare a few Korean dishes but have never had the exposure of any sort to them.  Even when there is this new Korean food outlet in one of the malls in the state capital, I am still unable to sample any of them because most of them contain seafood which I am somewhat allergic to.

Simple One Pot Roast Chicken

Star Q

The girls are home. My son and his wife are home.  Everyone is home.  The house is a hive of activities; well after 10 a.m. anyway, when most of us (except me and my wife) get up to see what is for breakfast.

Simple Fish Soup

Star Q

The holidays in December saw me having a few episodes of binge eating, not so much on the amount of food I ate but more on the types of food.  I actually found a lot of happiness and enjoyment in foods that contained coconut milk, lots of butter, cheese and what-have-you.
